New York Mets $765 Million Man Expected to Be in Spring Training Lineup on Saturday

Juan Soto, the New York Mets’ $765 million superstar, is expected to be in the lineup when the team kicks off their Grapefruit League schedule against the Houston Astros on Saturday. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that Soto, along with regulars Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso, will be featured in the 1:10 p.m. ET game at Clover Park.

Soto, who signed the richest contract in American professional sports history—a 15-year, $765 million deal this offseason—has earned a reputation as one of the most disciplined hitters in baseball. He’s led the league in walks three times and holds the active lead in on-base percentage at .421. With a career .285 batting average, Soto has spent seven years in the MLB with the Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees. He was instrumental in the Yankees’ 2024 World Series run, hitting .288 with 41 homers and 109 RBIs.

A five-time Silver Slugger, four-time All-Star, and 2019 World Series champion, Soto is expected to provide a major boost to the Mets’ lineup. As the team aims to surpass last year’s ALCS run, Soto will join forces with Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, and Mark Vientos to create one of the most potent middle-of-the-order lineups in baseball. The regular season begins on March 27.
