10 Injured in Shooting at South Carolina Boat Party Over Memorial Day Weekend
On Sunday night, May 25, 2025, a private boat party in Little River, South Carolina, ended in violence when a fight escalated into a shooting that left 10 people with gunshot wounds and at least one other person injured. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. as the boat was docking near Watson Avenue along the Intracoastal Waterway.
The event, advertised online as a “Rock tha Boat” birthday party featuring a DJ, was a three-hour cruise that concluded at 9 p.m. According to Horry County Police, the altercation began on the boat and continued onto the dock, where shots were fired. Some victims were transported to hospitals by emergency services, while others arrived in private vehicles. Several individuals remain in critical condition.
Among the injured was a 25-year-old man who was shot in the foot. His father, Randy Evans, reported that his son used his bathing suit as a makeshift tourniquet to assist others before receiving medical attention himself. Fortunately, his surgery was successful.
In a separate incident, a North Myrtle Beach police officer responding to the scene accidentally discharged his weapon, injuring his leg. He is currently in stable condition.
Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated event stemming from the altercation at the party. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
