An Oklahoma family of nine faced a harrowing ordeal after being left stranded in Ketchikan, Alaska, during their Norwegian Cruise Line vacation. The Gault family, including six children and a 78-year-old grandmother, missed the ship’s departure due to transportation issues following a lumberjack show excursion. They were unable to return to the ship before it set sail, leaving them without their belongings, passports, and essential medications. Compounding their distress, Norwegian Cruise Line charged them nearly $9,000 in fines for missing the departure, citing violations of the Passenger Vessel Services Act. The family endured multiple days of travel complications and incurred significant expenses to return home to Tulsa. In response, Norwegian Cruise Line has committed to reimbursing the family for out-of-pocket expenses and the imposed fines, and will provide a pro-rated refund for the missed cruise days. Additionally, they are offering a 20% discount on a future cruise as a goodwill gesture. citeturn0search1
