The Tennessee Volunteers suffered a setback on Monday as a highly-rated prospect from the 2026 recruiting class decommitted from the program despite holding 26 offers. However, not all news was bad for the Vols, as head coach Josh Heupel and his staff hosted several top recruits over the weekend.

Among the notable visitors was four-star wide receiver Joel Wyatt, a highly sought-after recruit in the 2026 class. Wyatt shared his positive impressions of the program during an interview with On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “They’re up there,” Wyatt said of Tennessee. “It was a great time in Knoxville, seeing all the coaches engaging with me and my family. The culture they have is great.”

Unfortunately, the Vols lost four-star offensive lineman Brandon Anderson, who announced his decommitment while weighing his extensive list of offers, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 335 pounds, Anderson is ranked as a top-100 prospect in the 2026 class. Programs like Auburn, Texas A&M, and LSU are among the many vying for his commitment.

Despite Anderson’s decision, Tennessee still has time to remain competitive in the recruiting race. Earlier this month, Anderson stated that Tennessee, along with Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Georgia, and Georgia Tech, would receive official visits, per On3’s Collin Ginnan.

Anderson’s decommitment reduces Tennessee’s 2026 commitments to seven, with five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, the No. 2 passer in the class, leading the group. While the loss is disappointing, the Vols remain active in pursuing top-tier talent as they continue building their future roster.
