Former Tennessee wide receiver appeared livid after his second NFL season was squandered.

While many former Tennessee football stars are thriving in the NFL, things have not gone according to plan for Jalin Hyatt. The former Vols standout arrived in East Rutherford with high hopes of making an impact for the New York Giants, but his rookie season in 2023 was largely uneventful, as he wasn’t frequently utilized. Expectations for a breakout 2024 campaign quickly fell flat, with Hyatt barely being involved under head coach Brian Daboll.

After the Giants’ disappointing season, owner John Mara confirmed that both Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen would return for 2025. However, it remains uncertain whether Hyatt’s future with the team is as secure. When asked about his future in New York, Hyatt appeared visibly displeased, giving a vague response of “we’ll see,” leaving the door wide open for a possible departure.

Given Hyatt’s situation, it’s hard to blame him for his frustration. After an outstanding 2022 season at Tennessee, where he was one of the best wide receivers in college football, he now finds himself struggling for opportunities in the NFL. In 2024, Hyatt recorded just eight receptions for 62 yards and no touchdowns—an underwhelming performance for a player drafted in the third round in 2023.

The Giants’ hopes for a dynamic receiving duo between Hyatt and first-round pick Malik Nabers never materialized, as the team finished with a 3-14 record. With limited production and growing discontent, Hyatt may have every reason to seek a larger role elsewhere. If the Giants continue to overlook him, a change of scenery might be in the best interest of both the player and the team.
