USF tapped into its Tennessee connection again on Saturday, as On3.com reported that the Bulls added former Tennessee wide receiver Chas Nimrod via the transfer portal.
Nimrod had submitted his name to the portal before the December 28 deadline, making him eligible to sign with a new school.
Chas Nimrod, who was recruited to Tennessee in 2022 by current USF head coach Alex Golesh and Co-Offensive Coordinator Kodi Burns, has signed with USF, according to @On3sports.
The former four-star recruit totaled 29 career catches for 315 yards and a touchdown. After redshirting his freshman year, Nimrod went on to play in 23 games and make six starts over the next two seasons, recording 28 catches for 309 yards and one touchdown.
In 2023, Chas Nimrod had a career-best five receptions for 44 yards in a start against No. 1-ranked Georgia.
According to Tennessee’s official website, Nimrod was recruited by 24 other programs, including several Power-5 schools, after graduating from Bentonville High School in Arkansas.
Nimrod adds speed to a USF wide receiver corps that loses its all-time leading receiver, Sean Atkins. In high school, Nimrod also competed in track and field, posting impressive times of 11.26 in the 100-meter dash and 22.08 in the 200-meter dash, both as a junior.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and 202 pounds, Chas Nimrod provides an appealing target for USF quarterbacks next season.
Since arriving at USF in late 2022, head coach Alex Golesh has brought in several key staff members from Tennessee, including Co-Offensive Coordinator Kodi Burns and tight ends coach Jack Taylor. Additionally, Golesh signed cornerback De’Shawn Rucker from the Vols after he entered the transfer portal. Highly regarded tight end Jonathan Echols also flipped from Tennessee to USF shortly after Golesh’s hiring.
Chas Nimrod becomes the 11th player to join the Bulls through the transfer portal since December. Other notable additions include defensive lineman Josh Celiscar from Texas A&M, offensive tackle Connor McLaughlin (a former Jesuit High School standout) from Stanford, running back Cartevious Norton from Charlotte, and offensive lineman Thomas Shrader from Appalachian State.
