The Toronto Blue Jays are teetering on the brink this offseason. After aggressively pursuing top free agents like Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, and Juan Soto, they have come away empty-handed.

Now, the team faces a choice: either enter a rebuilding phase or bolster their roster with available free agents and trade acquisitions. CBS Sports’ R.J. Anderson predicts they’ll opt for the latter. Anderson suggests the Blue Jays could sign Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander, poaching him from their American League East rival.

He noted that Santander, a 30-year-old switch-hitter coming off a 44-home run season, has flown under the radar despite his impressive performance. Anderson believes the Blue Jays, already linked to several high-profile free agents, could target Santander to strengthen their corner outfield or designated hitter positions.

Given their need for power hitters after missing out on Teoscar Hernández and Soto, Santander could be a significant upgrade. New York Post’s Jon Heyman estimates Santander could sign for around $100 million, an amount within the Blue Jays’ budget.
