Rangers have identified QPR’s Lyndon Dykes as a top striker target alongside Lawrence Shankland, according to HITC.
The online source reported on July 25 that the club is closely monitoring the Scotland duo this summer, aiming to add another striker to the squad. The Light Blues were linked with a move for the QPR ace last summer, as reported by the Daily Mail on June 19, 2023, while Hearts’ Shankland has been a target for several transfer windows.
With Cyriel Dessers struggling in front of goal and Danilo facing medical issues, Philippe Clement should consider bringing another striker to Ibrox this summer. Although Dykes had been linked with a move away from Scotland, his recent comments suggest he is ready to stay and fight for his place after scoring 22 goals in his first season, as reported by Ziggo Sport.
Danilo is a much-loved figure at Ibrox and has been missed during his rehabilitation.
His return is highly anticipated. While Shankland appears to be the obvious choice, given he has entered the final 12 months of his contract and has been prolific in the Scottish Premiership, there has been little movement on this front.
Rangers continue to be linked with the 28-year-old striker, but progress has been slow despite nearly all fans at Ibrox wanting to see the deal completed.
With experience in Scotland, Dykes could certainly be an alternative option for Clement this summer, bringing plenty of knowledge with him after four years in the Championship.
The 28-year-old has scored 36 goals and provided 12 assists during his time with QPR, making him a potentially better target man than Dessers currently manages in the attacking third.
