As the season wraps up, Derby County face several key decisions regarding player contracts. With nine players nearing the end of their current deals at Pride Park, John Eustace will have the opportunity to rebuild the squad according to his vision—something Rams fans hope will happen in the Championship.

Derby Players Pushing for New Deals as Season Nears End

As Derby County approach the end of the season, several players are nearing the expiry of their contracts—including loanees like Sonny Bradley and Tyrese Fornah, currently at Wycombe and Salford. First-team regulars such as Kane Wilson and Craig Forsyth are also set to become free agents unless the club chooses to renew their deals.

Kane Wilson
Wilson missed the start of John Eustace’s tenure due to a hamstring injury but has returned to become a key figure in Derby’s push for Championship survival. The attacking full-back, formerly with Bristol City, has impressed both fans and the coaching staff. Eustace recently praised him, saying:

“Kane’s a fantastic young player who I’m really enjoying working with. I’d love to continue coaching him. I’ve followed his career since his West Brom days and even tried to sign him while at Kidderminster.”

Craig Forsyth
At 36, Forsyth may be nearing the end of his career, but his recent performances have proven invaluable. Able to play at centre-back or left wing-back, he’s earned praise for his reliability and leadership. Eustace, a former teammate, had this to say:

“His professionalism and commitment are outstanding. I’ve known him since our Watford days and he’s always had the attitude to go far. At 36, to still be performing like this is a real credit to him.”

Forsyth recently scored a key goal in a win over Preston and provided an assist against Portsmouth—contributions that highlight his continued value. While he might not be a first-choice option next season if Derby stay in the Championship, his experience and consistency make him a strong candidate for a backup role.
