Breaking News: Vancouver Canucks’ Brock Boeser Signs Five-Year Contract Extension

In a major move that solidifies the Vancouver Canucks’ core for the foreseeable future, star winger Brock Boeser has signed a five-year contract extension with the team. The deal, reportedly worth \$40 million, will keep the 28-year-old forward in Vancouver through the 2029–30 NHL season.

Boeser, who had been the subject of much speculation over the past few weeks, had initially seemed poised to test free agency. Talks had reportedly hit a snag over contract length, but both sides were ultimately able to reach a compromise that reflects Boeser’s value to the team and his desire to remain part of Vancouver’s long-term plans.

Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin expressed his satisfaction with the deal, stating, “Brock is a key part of our team, both on and off the ice. He brings scoring, leadership, and a strong work ethic. We’re thrilled he’s committed to being a part of our future.” The deal reportedly includes a modified no-trade clause and carries an annual average value (AAV) of \$8 million.

Boeser had a standout 2023–24 season, posting a career-high 40 goals and 73 points. This season, he’s continued to be a consistent offensive presence, tallying 25 goals and 24 assists through 73 games. Since being drafted 23rd overall in 2015, he has amassed 204 goals and 229 assists in 552 games, establishing himself as one of the league’s most reliable goal-scorers.

In a statement following the announcement, Boeser said, “I love this city, this team, and our fans. Vancouver has become home for me, and I believe in the direction we’re heading. I’m excited to keep building something special here.” His leadership and performance are expected to be key as the Canucks continue to push for playoff contention.

With Boeser locked in, the Canucks now shift their focus to surrounding their core with complementary pieces as they look to transition from a rebuilding team to a serious Stanley Cup contender. The extension brings stability to the franchise and sends a message that Vancouver is committed to keeping its top talent in the fold.
