As of today, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has implemented full enforcement of the REAL ID Act. Travelers aged 18 and older must present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification, such as a passport, to board domestic flights within the United States. This change comes after multiple delays since the act’s passage in 2005. While approximately 81% of travelers possess compliant IDs, states like New Jersey and Illinois face significant backlogs, leading to concerns about potential airport delays and confusion.
