For the 2025 season, right-handed pitcher Jacob Barnes is set to return to one of the nine franchises he’s played for over his career. The Toronto Blue Jays announced this week that Barnes signed a minor league contract and earned an invite to their major league camp. This marks his second stint with the Blue Jays, having previously suited up for them in 2021.
In the 2022 season, Barnes split his time during two separate stints with the Tigers. He began the season with them, was released in June, and then rejoined in July for another brief period. Over 22 appearances, he logged 20⅔ innings with a 6.10 ERA—above his career average of 4.68. After his release in late August, Barnes finished that season with the Yankees. More recently, he also spent time with the Cardinals and Nationals, with his 63 appearances for the Nationals last season marking his highest workload since 2017, as he posted a 4.36 ERA.
