Djurgårdens IF sporting director Bosse Andersson has informed the Swedish media that they have not yet decided when Jacob Widell Zetterström will be officially announced as a Derby County player.
The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Championship club following reports of an agreement between the two teams.
However, Andersson is eager to keep the 26-year-old for this month’s Europa Conference League qualifiers, but he told Fotbollskanalen that the move to England will happen before the end of the month.
Andersson also mentioned that the player has already undergone a medical after meeting with Derby County officials.
“We want him to leave after our European game, no later than August 29th. Jacob has been on site, completed a medical, and met with the club. The only thing we haven’t finalized is the exact timing of the transfer. We plan for Jacob to play today (against IFK Göteborg) and in the European games against Tampere,” Andersson stated.
This week, it was confirmed that Jacob Rinne has signed for Djurgårdens IF, following reports that he would become the first-choice goalkeeper to replace Widell Zetterström.
Widell Zetterström is expected to join Derby County for a fee of around £2 million, with an additional £660,000 in potential add-ons.
Zetterström has made 17 league appearances for Djurgårdens IF this season and is under contract until June 2025. The Stockholm-born keeper made his debut for Sweden last year.
