The Boston Bruins have announced the jersey numbers for their new players this offseason, including Riley Tufte, Elias Lindholm, Mark Kastelic, Max Jones, Joonas Korpisalo, and Nikita Zadorov. Here are the details:
Riley Tufte: No. 10
Riley Tufte, who aims to establish himself in the NHL, will wear No. 10. Selected 25th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, Tufte has played only five career games with the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche. Notable Bruins who have worn No. 10 include Marty McInnis, Ron Sutter, Barry Pederson, Jean Ratelle, and Rick Smith. A.J. Greer was the last to wear it in 2023.
Elias Lindholm: No. 28
Elias Lindholm, one of Boston’s top free-agent signings, will continue to wear No. 28, as he did for most of his career. The number has been frequently used, with recent wearers including Mark Recchi, Dominic Moore, and Ondrej Kase. Derek Forbort wore No. 28 for the last three seasons.
Mark Kastelic: No. 47
Mark Kastelic will return to wearing No. 47, the number he wore during his first two years in the NHL before switching to No. 12 with the Ottawa Senators. The number No. 47 has been worn by 10 players in Bruins history, most notably Torey Krug from 2012-20.
Max Jones: No. 49
Max Jones will wear No. 49, as he has throughout his career, including his time with the London Knights and Anaheim Ducks. Only seven Bruins have previously worn No. 49, with Rich Peverley being the last from 2011-13.
Joonas Korpisalo: No. 70
Joonas Korpisalo will stick with No. 70, the number he has worn with every team in his career. Only four other players have worn No. 70 for the Bruins, including goalies Matt DelGuidice and Tim Thomas, who wore it in 2003 before switching to No. 30. Jesper Boqvist wore it last year.
Nikita Zadorov: No. 91
Nikita Zadorov will wear No. 91, the highest number on the Bruins’ roster. Zadorov, who traditionally wore No. 16, chose No. 91 because it’s “an upside-down 16,” as he explained when introduced by the Bruins. Marc Savard, who wore No. 91 from 2007-11, coached Zadorov with the Calgary Flames, and Zadorov sought Savard’s permission to wear the number.
