Atalanta and Galatasaray have joined several clubs in the race to sign Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara, according to Italian reports. The Brazilian midfielder is expected to attract more interest in the coming weeks, with the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport stating that Atalanta might focus on Sara if they fail to secure a deal with Celtic for Matt O’Riley.
The report also notes that Turkish club Galatasaray has long admired the 25-year-old, and there is additional interest from English clubs Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Norwich’s Championship rivals Leeds.
Norwich is expected to sell at least one key player this summer, with Sara, Jon Rowe, and striker Josh Sargent being potential candidates. Sara stood out last season, contributing to David Wagner’s team reaching the playoffs before losing to Leeds. He is one of the players Norwich anticipates will attract interest this summer. Although Roma has been linked with Sara, no official contact has been made.
City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup has frequently utilized Sara in the team’s Championship preparations and praised his professionalism and focus after a friendly match against Northampton. “Gabby is a fantastic player, and his professionalism is evident in his daily focus and dedication,” Thorup said.
“Despite transfer rumors, he remains committed to his work and was responsible for assisting Johnny Rowe’s second goal. We’re focused on improving, and it’s clear what he can contribute on the pitch.”
