According to reports from Turkey, James Tavernier is open to a move there. Trabzonspor has shown interest first with an offer, but it might not be his preferred destination. Former Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is interested in reuniting with his former captain at Besiktas, and it appears Tavernier is also keen on this option.
Trabzonspor made a bid for the right-back, but Rangers immediately rejected it, with the two clubs approximately £800,000 apart in their valuations. There were even claims that the 32-year-old had agreed to personal terms with the Super Lig side, leaving only an agreement between the clubs to be finalized.
However, Besiktas’ interest is also clear, with van Bronckhorst urging the club to make a move. According to Duhuliye, Tavernier would “look favorably on Besiktas’ offer.” The report also mentions that Besiktas is evaluating the potential costs, indicating possible discussions with Rangers.
Trabzonspor, who recently signed right-back Pedro Malheiro from Boavista, still wants Tavernier and has been promising their fans more signings. If the move happens, Tavernier could team up with former teammates Borna Barisic and John Lundstram. Lundstram made his debut in the Europa League qualifying win over MFK Ruzomberok, although Barisic was not in the squad.
