Rangers are on the hunt for additional firepower this transfer window.

Rangers still seem lacking in the attacking department after losing several goals from their underperforming forward line last season. With Cyriel Dessers still uncertain and Brazilian striker Danilo just returning from injury, Rangers fans are hoping for an additional senior forward before the window closes.

However, Fabrizio Romano reports that a potential option from the Scotland international setup will not be joining Rangers, having instead agreed to an unexpected transfer to Spain.

McBurnie Secures Unexpected Move to Spanish Club

Oliver McBurnie is frequently linked with Rangers, thanks to his strong connection to the Ibrox club. Although he was born in Leeds, the 28-year-old Scotland international has always shown his allegiance to Rangers.

McBurnie had expressed openness to a move to Rangers after leaving Sheffield United in the summer. However, Fabrizio Romano reports that the striker is set for a move to Spain instead.

According to Romano, McBurnie has reached an agreement with La Liga side Las Palmas and is scheduled to undergo a medical on Friday as he prepares for his permanent move to Gran Canaria.

Rangers striker hunt goes on

The transfer of Oliver McBurnie to Spain effectively rules out any speculation that he could have filled the striker gap at Rangers. Although there was no official confirmation that Rangers were pursuing McBurnie this summer, there have been ongoing links between the striker and Ibrox throughout his career.

McBurnie, who recently left Sheffield United after a £20 million move from Swansea in 2019, might have been a potential target for Rangers this summer. With that option off the table, attention will now shift to other potential signings for the forward position at Rangers.

While McBurnie has fallen out of favor with the Scotland national team recently, Lawrence Shankland, another Scotland international forward, has once again been linked with Rangers. Shankland, known for his strong ties to Ibrox, has polarized fans as Rangers look to bolster their attacking lineup.
