Rangers are reportedly planning a player-plus-cash deal to acquire Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, according to the Daily Record.
The Light Blues are considering offering one of their current first-team players as part of the exchange to secure Shankland, who is in the final year of his contract at Tynecastle.
To facilitate this move, Rangers may need to offload some of their own players to balance the books. Key figures like James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are potential candidates for departure.
Tavernier, the team’s captain, is attracting interest from Trabzonspor and Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, and his exit could provide significant funds. Goldson, on the other hand, is being eyed by Aris Limassol and Birmingham City. While a move to Birmingham might require a pay cut, Goldson’s transfer could still generate substantial revenue for Rangers.
Rangers are also considering the sale of Ianis Hagi, who is not in Philippe Clement’s plans. Fiorentina has shown interest, and a potential £3 million offer from them could significantly contribute to funding Lawrence Shankland’s transfer.
While losing players like Hagi, Tavernier, and Goldson might be difficult for fans, these departures could be crucial in securing a top striker like Shankland.
