Victor Osimhen continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea as Enzo Maresca aims to strengthen his squad before the new season begins. Chelsea have shown interest in the Napoli striker for some time, who has a £110 million release clause in his contract. Napoli expects to receive the full amount for any potential transfer.

There have been suggestions that Chelsea might use Romelu Lukaku as part of a swap deal to reduce the fee. Recently, the Blues have shown renewed interest in Osimhen after initially deciding against making a move. However, they could face competition from Paris Saint Germain, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that talks between PSG and Osimhen’s camp are progressing and the player is keen to join if a deal can be agreed.

Osimhen himself hinted earlier this year that he could be open to a move to Stamford Bridge. Speaking while on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Nigeria in January, he told CBS Sports: “At the end of the season, I think I already made up my mind. I already know what I want to do with my career. Even though things didn’t start well, everything is working out now. I have my plan and know the next step I want to take.”

Napoli boss Antonio Conte also suggested earlier in the summer that the club expects Osimhen to move on. “I know what the situation is regarding Osimhen,” he said. “There are agreements in place. He is an exceptional player, but I cannot discuss the details as it is part of previous agreements.”
