Coventry City has announced that UK digital bank Monzo will be their front-of-shirt sponsor and principal partner for the upcoming 2024/25 EFL Championship season.
Replacing King of Shaves, who served as the club’s principal partner last season and will now feature as their back-of-shirt sponsor, Monzo’s one-year deal marks a new era in sponsorship for the Sky Blues.
Founded by Will King, brother of Coventry’s majority owner Doug King, King of Shaves had been a significant supporter of the club. However, Monzo’s partnership aims to provide extensive exposure for the digital bank, which boasts a customer base of nine million and has grown to become the seventh largest retail bank in the UK since its inception in 2015.
Coventry City has also unveiled their new home kit for the 2024/25 season, prominently featuring Monzo branding for the first time.
AJ Coyne, Vice President of Marketing at Monzo, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Coventry City’s rich history and community engagement. “We both value a special connection with our communities and share a challenger mindset, so this was a perfect fit,” Coyne stated.
Doug King, Owner and Executive Chairman at Coventry City, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing Monzo’s alignment with the club’s forward-looking vision. “Monzo is an ideal partner for Coventry City as we look to engage with new fans and rebuild our club’s presence within the community and across the country,” King commented.
