Rangers got off to a strong start in the transfer window, but activity has slowed down recently.

Philippe Clement understands that he needs to sell players to create space, but it’s not as simple as just “getting rid” of them.

Despite this, Clement is content to work with the current squad as he aims to bring the Scottish Premiership title back to Ibrox, with one Rangers outcast now back in the iconic Light Blue shirt.

Sam Lammers Rejoins Rangers Squad

After his £3m move from Atalanta, Sam Lammers struggled to make an impact at the club. However, he found his form in the Eredivisie, attracting interest from several teams in his homeland.

Unfortunately for Philippe Clement, Lammers’ wage demands have made a return to the Netherlands unlikely.

The Dutch forward has missed the last two weeks of pre-season training with the senior squad and has been training with the B team at Auchenhowie.

He recently featured in a short-notice fixture against Leeds United Under-21s, marking his first action of the new campaign. Despite having a couple of chances to score, he failed to find the back of the net.

Philippe Clement Might Have to Rely on Rangers Misfit

In a recent statement, Clement emphasized that his focus remains on working with the squad he has when the transfer window closes, regardless of any potential departures:

“It’s not the right time to rate the window. One thing I’ve learned is to work hard with the players available, as things can change quickly.

“With players you want, you first need to convince them to join and then convince their team to accept the transfer fee.

“You can only evaluate the situation on September 1. That’s my reality. Sometimes business is done early, other times it’s last-minute. It depends on the market.

“In years with World Cups or Euros, the market tends to move slower. We’ve been busy scouting many players and have already made some good moves for the club’s future.”

Clement has not yet commented on Sam Lammers’ future.

Lammers, who was left behind in Scotland and is the only player facing speculation about his future, seems to be expected to depart by the Rangers boss. Lammers scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 18 league appearances on loan at Utrecht, demonstrating his ability to perform well.

At Rangers, he primarily played as a number 10, but in the Netherlands, he played higher up the pitch. Could Clement consider a similar role for him at Rangers? It is the only position he should play if he remains at the club when the transfer window closes.
