Rapid Bucharest are adamant they will not sell Albion Rrahmani this summer despite interest from Rangers, according to the Daily Record.

The Kosovan striker, who scored 17 goals in his first season at Rapid, has drawn attention from several clubs. On 15 July, the paper reported that minority shareholder Victor Angelescu confirmed plans to keep Rrahmani as one of three forwards for the new season, dismissing any move for Fiorentina’s Louis Munteanu.

Football Scotland reported on 17 June that a Romanian source indicated Rangers were “in pole position” to sign Rrahmani. However, Rapid’s president emphasized the striker’s importance and noted that the only bid received so far was insufficient.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has stated publicly that the club needs to sell players before making new signings, with exit-linked forwards Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers still at the club. This financial constraint makes a significant move for Rrahmani unlikely at present.

Neil Lennon, managing Rapid Bucharest, has humorously been suggested as a factor that might increase Rrahmani’s price. Regardless, Rapid would only consider a substantial offer for the striker.

Rangers have signed Hamza Igamane, but Clement has indicated that the Moroccan striker is not yet ready to make an immediate impact.

Danilo is returning from injury at Rangers, and there are potential sales of his teammates on the horizon.

Kris Boyd, writing in the Scottish Sun on 5 July, has expressed confidence that Danilo will have a significant role to play once he is back. However, bringing in a proven option would undoubtedly reassure fans.

While it’s debatable whether Albion Rrahmani is the right target for this role, it currently appears to be a moot point given Rapid Bucharest’s stance on not selling him this summer.
