BBC Report: Sheffield Wednesday Face Stiff Opposition for Highly Rated Ace -May Get a Boost Soon.

Sheffield Wednesday are actively pursuing reinforcements for their defense this summer, with reports emerging of interest in French centre-back Mickael Nade following his departure from Saint-Etienne after a decade with the club. The Owls have been highly active in the transfer market since the window opened last month, securing nine new signings, predominantly on permanent deals. The sole loanee among them is James Beadle, returning from Brighton and Hove Albion for another year at Hillsborough.

Despite bolstering their squad with fullbacks, forwards, midfielders, and goalkeepers, Sheffield Wednesday have identified central defense as an area needing strengthening. Last season saw a rotation of players including Bambo Diaby, Akin Famewo, Liam Palmer, Di’Shon Bernard, and Michael Ihiekwe depending on tactical needs under head coach Danny Rohl, who prefers flexibility between back four and three formations.

Nade, known for his left-footed ability, is seen as a valuable addition who could potentially increase in market value, despite being a free agent with an estimated market worth of £1.3 million. Sheffield Wednesday face stiff competition from Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion for Nade’s signature, with both clubs eyeing defensive improvements ahead of the new season. The Owls’ track record under Rohl in securing signings like Jamal Lowe against expectations suggests they could still be in contention to bring Nade to Hillsborough in the coming weeks.
