Sean Keys, a standout collegiate third baseman from Bucknell University, was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth round (125th overall) of the MLB Draft. Throughout the season, Keys has consistently ranked among the nation’s top collegiate third basemen. This marks a significant achievement for Keys and Bucknell baseball, as he becomes the 13th player from the university to be drafted into Major League Baseball.

Keys’ selection in the fourth round surpasses previous high draft picks from Bucknell, such as Andy Nezelek, who was picked in the fifth round in 1986. Coach Scott Heather expressed pride in Keys’ accomplishment, highlighting his dedication and performance on and off the field. Keys had an outstanding 2024 season, earning accolades including Patriot League Player of the Year and All-Region honors.

During the season, Keys posted impressive offensive statistics, batting .405 with notable rankings in various categories such as hits, doubles, RBIs, and home runs within the Patriot League. His achievements extend beyond baseball, as he majors in mechanical engineering and has been recognized for his academic excellence, receiving honors like Academic All-American and Academic All-Patriot League Team selection.
