Paul Warne is thrilled with a double boost for Derby County.

Having bolstered his squad with four new signings ahead of the Rams’ return to the Championship, Warne also expressed delight at seeing two players return from injuries in the club’s first pre-season friendly of the summer. Jake Rooney and Ryan Nyambe both participated in the 3-0 victory over Matlock Town last Friday night.

Rooney missed nearly all of last season due to a knee cruciate ligament injury suffered last September, while Nyambe’s season ended in February with a serious quad injury. Both players had to watch from the stands as their teammates secured promotion from League One.

Warne also provided an update on Conor Washington, Joe Ward, and Ben Osborn, who did not play against Matlock but were set to join their teammates at a pre-season training camp in Spain this week. Derby County is scheduled to face Stockport County in their next pre-season friendly at the Pinatar Arena on Friday.

“Whether they play in the game against Stockport, I don’t know. We are trying to be cautious,” Warne added.
