As the Blue Jays remain quiet about new signings, many of their former players have already secured spots for the 2025 season, with Patrick Murphy being the latest to find a new team. The Texas Rangers revealed this morning that they have signed Murphy, a former Blue Jays pitcher, to a minor league contract. However, the team did not clarify whether the deal includes an invitation to major league Spring Training.

Patrick Murphy has been away from MLB since his last appearance in 2022 with the Minnesota Twins, where he struggled with poor performance and was subsequently released. Following that, he spent time in Japan’s NPB, where he showed improved numbers, leading to a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers. Murphy had been with the Blue Jays since 2014, when he was drafted, until 2021, when he was placed on waivers and claimed by the Washington Nationals after being designated for assignment.

While former Blue Jays like Murphy continue to secure new opportunities, the Blue Jays have yet to make any signings, either major or minor league, in over a week. The team remains focused on potential moves involving players like Corbin Burnes and Anthony Santander.
