Oklahoma has secured a major addition at wide receiver.
Just one day after adding two FCS-level wideouts, the Sooners landed a commitment from Isaiah Sategna, a dynamic playmaker who has spent the last three seasons in the SEC with Arkansas.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Sategna made his verbal commitment to Oklahoma on Thursday night. He was named a second-team preseason All-SEC selection by College Football News and Phil Steele, who also honored him as a third-team All-SEC return specialist in 2023. Additionally, Sategna earned a spot on the 2023 Freshman All-SEC Team.
This season, Sategna recorded 37 receptions for 491 yards and a touchdown, averaging 13.3 yards per catch. As a redshirt freshman in 2022, he caught 15 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Though he redshirted in 2022, Sategna played in four games, making two receptions for 12 yards. His 680 return yards (combining punt and kickoff returns) rank as the sixth-highest single-season total in Razorback history.
Across three seasons in the SEC, Sategna has accumulated 54 receptions for 632 yards and three touchdowns. His standout performances this season include a 58-yard touchdown reception among three catches for 85 yards at Auburn, five catches for 72 yards against Tennessee, and four catches for 55 yards versus LSU.
In addition to his receiving skills, Sategna has been a dangerous threat as a punt returner. In 2023, he returned 15 punts for 180 yards and a touchdown, including an 88-yard return for a touchdown against BYU. He also posted over 100 all-purpose yards in three games that season.
Sategna’s high school career was equally impressive. As a senior at Fayetteville High School, he caught 100 passes for 1,908 yards and 17 touchdowns, leading the nation in receiving yards. He was a consensus 4-star recruit and ranked No. 159 overall in the Rivals 250, also earning recognition as the top prospect in Arkansas and the No. 24 wide receiver in the country. In addition to his football accomplishments, he was also a standout track athlete, named Arkansas Gatorade Boys Track Athlete of the Year.
The Sooners were in need of a playmaking wide receiver, particularly after losing six wideouts to the transfer portal. Sategna’s speed and ability to stretch the field should be a strong complement to new quarterback John Mateer, as well as incoming FCS transfers Jovannie Gibson and Keontez Lewis, who also committed to Oklahoma on Thursday.
