(CBS DETROIT) – Aidan Hutchinson, defensive end for the Detroit Lions, says that if the team reaches the Super Bowl, he plans to be there in uniform.

Hutchinson shared this during an interview on actor and Michigan native Taylor Lautner’s podcast, “The Squeeze,” where he also discussed the injury he sustained to his left tibia. Lautner posted a brief clip of the conversation on social media, with the full interview set to be released on Wednesday.

The first-round draft pick injured his left tibia after sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 6. Despite the injury, Hutchinson was determined not to let it sideline him and made a vow to his teammates. “I keep telling all the boys when I see them in the facility, I’m like ‘You guys just have to get there, and I promise you I’m gonna be back,'” he said.

Since Hutchinson’s injury, the Lions have seen a growing list of sidelined players, with key defensive figures such as Alex Anzalone, Alim McNeil, and Carlton Davis unavailable. The team also lost defensive back Khalil Dorsey to an ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Bills. Dorsey is a key special teams player for Detroit. Other injured players include Marcus Davenport, Malcolm Rodriguez, John Cominsky, Derrick Barnes, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Emmanuel Moseley, and Ennis Rakestraw, all of whom are on injured reserve.

Additionally, running back David Montgomery was reported to have a potentially season-ending knee injury on Monday.

Despite a tough 48-42 loss to the Bills on Sunday, the 12-2 Lions remain focused on defending their NFC North title and securing the top playoff seed in the conference. Head coach Dan Campbell emphasized that it’s “not the time to freak out and panic.”
