Ipswich Town JOE PIGOTT JOINS TOWN

Former Ipswich Town forward Joe Pigott has returned to AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan from Leyton Orient, where he currently plays in League One. The 30-year-old enjoyed a successful initial stint with the Dons, scoring 54 goals in 157 appearances before moving to Ipswich in the summer of 2021.

Pigott struggled to establish himself at Portman Road, scoring three goals in 29 games, and spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Portsmouth. Last summer, he mutually terminated his contract with Ipswich and joined Leyton Orient. However, his time there saw him score just four goals in 42 appearances across all competitions in the 2023/24 season.

Now joining Johnnie Jackson’s team, who finished tenth in League Two last season, Pigott expressed his enthusiasm about returning to Plough Lane. He stated, “To come back is amazing but I have so much more to give and achieve with this club. Wimbledon means a lot to me and my family, so it’s hard not to be emotional when I talk about the support that the fans have always shown me.”

He added, “At the forefront of my mind is the excitement I have for the opportunity to play at a packed Plough Lane. I missed out on that because of Covid, so to finally experience it will be incredible.”
