The Detroit Lions are making moves to strengthen their defense as they head into the final stretch of the season. After losing linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez for the year during their Thanksgiving win over the Chicago Bears, and seeing a couple of defensive linemen dealing with minor injuries, the Lions acted quickly.

On Friday, the team signed linebacker Kwon Alexander. By Sunday, it was reported that they had also brought in safety Jamal Adams, who began the season with the Tennessee Titans.

Adams, a former Pro Bowler from 2018 to 2020, has been named first-team All-Pro once and second-team All-Pro twice. After being traded from the Jets to the Seahawks in 2020 for multiple draft picks, he played 12 games in each of his first two seasons in Seattle. However, Adams has struggled with injuries and was released in March. He signed with the Titans this summer but played only three games before requesting his release in October.

According to Adam Schefter, Adams sought an opportunity with a contender, and with the Lions dealing with mounting injuries, that chance may have arrived. The key question now is whether Adams can stay healthy if given the opportunity to play.
