Jon Brady expressed his satisfaction at returning to action as Cobblers commenced their pre-season schedule with a loss to Norwich City at Sixfields on Saturday. Jonathan Rowe, a talented 21-year-old from Norwich, netted twice in the first 12 minutes as the visitors dominated the first half. Kenneth Aboh added a late third in a more disjointed second period.
“It’s good to be back,” Brady remarked. “Facing such strong opposition was a valuable experience. It’s fantastic to have them here, although it was a high-level game for our first friendly, and we’re not yet at our peak.”
“Pre-season is about progress. Norwich move the ball very well, and you can already see their new manager’s style taking shape. For us, it was more about fitness, off-the-ball work, and reacquainting ourselves with our positioning. Ball retention will improve with more matches.”
“Playing against a team like Norwich is always a challenge, and ideally, you’d prefer slightly lesser opposition for your first game back. Nonetheless, it was a great opportunity to compete against them. Now, we have plenty to focus on and improve upon, as we continue to develop our squad and embed our principles.”
