The Milwaukee Brewers face several questions this offseason after winning the National League Central by 10 games but falling short in the Wild Card Series against the New York Mets. One major uncertainty surrounds closer Devin Williams, whose club option was declined, making him a potential trade candidate as he enters the final year of his contract.

If Williams is traded, the Brewers will need to find a replacement to stay competitive in 2025. One possibility is Jordan Romano, who was recently non-tendered by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Romano, a standout reliever during a three-year peak in Toronto, posted a 2.37 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 95 saves in 184 appearances. However, his high arbitration figure, combined with a difficult 2024 season marred by injuries, led to his release. Romano had a 6.59 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and -0.3 WAR over just 15 appearances last season. Despite this, he remains an intriguing potential rebound candidate with upside similar to that of Kirby Yates, and could be a worthwhile project for the Brewers as they look to compete in 2025.

It will be interesting to see what kind of market develops for Romano this offseason.
