The Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly one of five teams that have extended an offer to free-agent outfielder Juan Soto. The initial report came from Randy Miller of NJ.com, with Jon Morosi of MLB Network also confirming the news.

The race for Juan Soto appears to be narrowing, with five teams now reportedly having submitted offers to the free-agent outfielder. According to a source familiar with the situation, the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers, and Blue Jays all presented contract proposals to Soto’s agent, Scott Boras, late last week.

While the specifics of these offers remain unclear, there has been speculation about Soto’s demands, with figures ranging from $540 million to $700 million. Given the significance of Soto’s decision, the process is moving quickly, as many teams have structured their offseasons around his potential signing. With Soto’s choice still up in the air, much of the free-agent market is on hold, awaiting his decision.

It’s encouraging to see the Toronto Blue Jays firmly in the mix for Juan Soto, especially after a tough last-place finish in the American League East. The team could really use a boost, and adding Soto to a lineup that already features Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette would make for a very powerful trio, instantly bolstering the Jays’ chances of returning to contention.

Soto had an impressive season in 2024, hitting .288 with 41 home runs and 109 RBIs for the Yankees, showcasing the kind of impact bat that could help the Blue Jays immediately.
