The Detroit Lions faced off against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Ford Field on Sunday, with playoff implications at stake. Detroit quickly built a commanding lead, leading 42-6 early in the fourth quarter, making a win for coach Dan Campbell’s team seem all but certain. The Lions’ offense took center stage, but the defense was equally impressive, limiting the Jaguars to just 137 total yards by the fourth quarter. Despite their dominant performance, the Lions faced a setback when star linebacker Alex Anzalone left the game after sustaining an apparent arm injury while attempting a tackle on a Jaguars ball carrier near the sideline, alongside safety Brian Branch. Anzalone, who joined the Lions after his time at Florida, was visibly shaken and had to leave the field during the first half. It was later confirmed that Anzalone had a forearm injury and would not return to the game. Undeterred, the Lions continued their strong performance, with Jared Goff throwing a touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown, extending the lead to 49-6.
