Double Tragedy: Fatal Shooting Mars Vigil for Slain Vikings Player -Lives Lost.

A shooting broke out after a vigil for Vikings CB Khyree Jackson, who died in a car crash

A vigil held at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Maryland to honor the late Minnesota Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson ended tragically when a shooting occurred shortly after the event concluded. According to authorities, one man was killed and a woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.

The vigil was organized to remember Jackson, along with Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton Jr., who lost their lives in a car accident on July 6. The three young men had been standout football players at the school where the vigil was held. The fatal crash occurred when their vehicle was struck by Cori Clingman, who was reportedly changing lanes at a high speed, possibly under the influence of alcohol.

Following the peaceful vigil, shots were fired in the school’s parking lot, resulting in one victim being shot in the leg and another in the chest. A firearm was recovered at the scene, but no arrests have been made yet as police continue their investigation into the incident.

Police responded to the scene after citizens alerted them to the shooting. They found individuals administering first aid to an adult female victim and commenced life-saving efforts on another adult male victim. Tragically, the male victim succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Jackson, who was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the NFL Draft from the University of Oregon, had been expected to make an impact in his rookie season with the team’s secondary. His promising career was cut short by the tragic events surrounding his untimely death.
