Former Hibs striker Oli Shaw has made a permanent switch from Barnsley to Hamilton Accies, marking his return to Scottish football. The Hibs academy graduate joins the team led by former Easter Road midfielder John Rankin on a three-year deal.

Shaw, who began his career at Hibs, made his first-team debut at 17, racking up 65 appearances and scoring 12 goals. He has also played for Ross County, Kilmarnock, and Barnsley, and spent last season on loan at Motherwell.

Now, Shaw moves from North Lanarkshire to South Lanarkshire as Hamilton Accies return to the Scottish Championship after a season in League One. Rankin expressed his satisfaction, saying, “It’s great to get Oli into the club. I’ve been after him for a while now, so it feels great to get him signed on. He’s a clinical striker with plenty of experience in Scotland, so he adds terrific depth and firepower to the front line.”

Shaw’s potential was highly regarded during his time at Hibs, with former chief executive Leeann Dempster praising him as one of Europe’s top young talents in 2019. After helping Kilmarnock win the Championship with 20 goals in 51 games, Shaw moved to Barnsley. However, his time at Motherwell was challenging, as he struggled with injuries and failed to score in 19 appearances, although he did manage two assists.
