Former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Scott Harrington has signed a professional tryout (PTO) with the St. Louis Blues, marking a significant opportunity for the veteran player to continue his NHL career. The Blues announced Harrington’s PTO alongside other signings, including Matthew Peca, Nikita Alexandrov, and Sam Bitten, as they prepare for the 2024-25 training camp.

Harrington, 31, brings a wealth of NHL experience, having played 255 games across multiple teams, including the Maple Leafs, Columbus Blue Jackets, San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks. His career has also included a brief stint with the ZSC Lions in the Swiss National League, where he tallied four points in 14 regular-season games and two points in six postseason matches.

While Harrington’s time with the Maple Leafs during the 2015-16 season was brief, it was a pivotal moment in his development. Acquired in the trade that sent Phil Kessel to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Harrington played a depth role and often alternated between the NHL and AHL with the Toronto Marlies. His versatility and defensive reliability became key assets as he moved on to find consistency with the Blue Jackets.

Now, the St. Louis Blues are giving Harrington the chance to prove his value once again as they look to solidify their defensive depth. If he performs well during training camp, Harrington could earn a roster spot and bring his steady presence to the Blues’ blue line for the upcoming season.
