Breaking News: Toronto Maple Leafs official training camp roster is revealed

Leafs fans, get ready to get excited! The team has officially revealed its training camp roster, signaling the season’s fast approach.

With 75 players competing for spots, the Toronto Maple Leafs’ training camp has kicked off. The camp began Wednesday with media day and medical testing, as the organization released the full list of players aiming for a spot in the opening night lineup.

The players will hit the ice for the first session on Thursday, September 19, with both familiar and fresh faces ready to prove themselves.

Among the invitees is 35-year-old veteran forward Max Pacioretty, who is trying to bounce back after two difficult seasons due to Achilles injuries. Between his time with Washington and Carolina, Pacioretty managed to notch 23 points in 47 games last season. He’s on a PTO and is a strong candidate to boost Toronto’s left-wing depth. He’ll be wearing number 67 at camp.

  • Also on a PTO is Stanley Cup champion Steven Lorentz from the Florida Panthers. After contributing a goal and two assists in the 2023-24 season, Lorentz will be aiming to make the team. The Kitchener native, wearing number 18, brings valuable championship experience to Toronto.

Pacioretty, given his experience and potential, seems like a solid contender for a roster spot if all goes well in training camp. Fans will be watching closely over the next few weeks as the Leafs make lineup decisions, including the possibility of William Nylander shifting to center, potentially creating a powerful combination with Auston Matthews and John Tavares.

In addition to veterans, young prospects are drawing attention. Last year, Fraser Minten emerged as a surprise player, and now, all eyes are on 19-year-old Easton Cowan. Cowan will either join the Leafs or return to the London Knights for further development, but he’s coming off a standout junior career and could be ready for the NHL.

The Leafs’ preseason starts on Sunday, September 22, against the Ottawa Senators at Scotiabank Arena. With new faces, exciting lineup options, and intense competition, this preseason is shaping up to be one to watch. Get ready, Leafs fans!
