Breaking News: Maple Leafs land a $20 million forward, transforming their lineup with a game-changing trade!

Trade Proposal Sees Kyle Palmieri Headed to the Maple Leafs

As the Toronto Maple Leafs gear up for training camp with most of their roster in place, a trade proposal has surfaced that could bring skilled forward Kyle Palmieri into the fold.

Using PuckPedia’s PuckGM tool, one user suggested a trade where the Maple Leafs would acquire Palmieri from the New York Islanders in exchange for Calle Jarnkrok and a couple of draft picks.

Proposed Trade: Kyle Palmieri
– Islanders Receive: Calle Jarnkrok, 2027 second-round pick, 2026 third-round pick

Palmieri, who is in the final year of his four-year, $20 million contract, could bolster the Maple Leafs’ middle-six forward group with his physical play and scoring ability. Last season with the Islanders, he played all 82 games, notching 30 goals and 24 assists for a total of 54 points.

In return, Toronto would part with Jarnkrok and two draft picks. Jarnkrok, entering the second year of a four-year, $8.4 million deal, is known for his strong defensive play and penalty-killing skills. Last season, he recorded 10 goals and 11 assists in 52 games with the Leafs.

Islanders’ Front Office Update:
Despite being ousted in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Carolina Hurricanes, the Islanders finished the season strong, going 20-12-5 after appointing Patrick Roy as head coach. Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello confirmed both he and Roy will return for the next season.

Lamoriello, in his 37th year as an NHL GM and leading the Islanders since 2018, reassured that the ownership is fully supportive of the current team, emphasizing their commitment to the core group and their readiness to back any necessary improvements.

Maple Leafs Sign Max Pacioretty to PTO:
Toronto has also signed veteran forward Max Pacioretty to a professional tryout. With 902 NHL games under his belt, Pacioretty is expected to add depth to the Leafs’ lineup. GM Brad Treliving noted that the addition of Pacioretty aims to increase competition and depth at camp, with final roster decisions to be made by head coach Craig Berube and his staff.

The Maple Leafs will kick off their 2024-25 NHL season on the road against the Montreal Canadiens on October 9.
