Kyle Dubas is on the brink of pulling off another major coup with the Maple Leafs.

Kyle Dubas, after leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs, landed a position with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Since then, he has lured two former Maple Leafs to Pittsburgh: Jason Spezza, who is now the general manager of their minor league system, and Wes Clark, a move that hasn’t pleased Easton Cowan.

There is speculation that Dubas might target the Maple Leafs’ scouting department next. The Leafs recently parted ways with Victor Carneiro, an Amateur Scout who had joined the team in 2018 when Dubas was in charge. Given their previous collaboration with the Soo Greyhounds, it’s plausible that Dubas could recruit Carneiro to Pittsburgh.

However, whether this is the right decision for the Penguins remains uncertain. While Dubas may be inclined to hire his former colleagues, it’s not a certainty that he will do so. This situation could be intriguing for fans of both the Leafs and the Penguins.

This season, the Maple Leafs are expected to be strong contenders for the title, whereas the Penguins are on the edge of playoff contention. This dynamic adds an extra layer of interest as Dubas works to rebuild his new team.
