Derby County is reportedly monitoring the situation of Tariq Lamptey at Brighton and Hove Albion, with a potential January move on the horizon. The 23-year-old fullback, who once dazzled fans with his pace and versatility, has found himself sidelined under Brighton’s new manager.

Lamptey, who joined Brighton from Chelsea in January 2020, quickly became a fan favorite with his dynamic performances on the right flank. However, this season has seen the talented youngster struggle for game time, as Brighton’s new head coach opts for alternative defensive options. The lack of minutes has raised eyebrows, with many questioning Lamptey’s future at the Amex Stadium.

Derby County, currently in the EFL Championship, are keen to strengthen their squad and see Lamptey as an ideal addition. The Rams believe that Lamptey’s potential and Premier League experience could provide the quality needed to boost their promotion push. With Lamptey’s value potentially depreciating due to his lack of playing time, Derby may be able to secure his services at a bargain price.

Sources close to Derby County suggest that the club is preparing to make an official approach in January, confident that Brighton may be willing to negotiate a deal. The move would not only benefit Derby but could also give Lamptey the regular first-team football he craves, something that has been missing this season.

Lamptey, who has also been on the radar of several other clubs, may have to weigh his options carefully. A move to Derby could reignite his career and offer a fresh start away from the Premier League spotlight.

As the January transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Derby County to see if they can pull off what could be one of the bargains of the season.
