After signing Norwich City striker Adam Idah, Celtic are now reportedly targeting Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels. The 20-year-old Belgian, who is under contract with the Bundesliga club for another three years, had an impressive season last year. According to The Scottish Sun, Engels has become a key transfer target for Celtic.
The club may need to offer £10 million to secure Engels, potentially setting a new record for their highest transfer fee. Engels would serve as a potential replacement for Matt O’Riley, should the Dane depart this transfer window. Atalanta remains interested in O’Riley and has had several bids turned down.
McCowan transfer twist.
Hibs may encounter competition from Celtic in their pursuit of Dundee playmaker Luke McCowan. The Easter Road club has already made two offers for the talented midfielder but has yet to meet Dundee’s asking price. Hibs are looking for a creative addition to their squad and have targeted McCowan as a key player.
However, given McCowan’s strong performances, Celtic are also considering a move for the 26-year-old, who has one year remaining on his contract. While Hibs are determined not to overpay, they might face significant competition if Celtic decides to make a formal bid. Saints concede defeat in O’Riley pursuit.
Southampton manager Russell Martin has conceded defeat in his bid to sign Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley. Despite making an offer earlier in the summer, the newly-promoted Premier League team cannot meet O’Riley’s £25 million valuation.
Martin, who previously managed O’Riley at MK Dons, acknowledged that Southampton is no longer in the running for the 23-year-old. When questioned about future moves for O’Riley, Martin confirmed, “We are not in the race right now.”
Conway set to sign with Boro.
Scotland striker Tommy Conway has reportedly completed his transfer from Bristol City to Middlesbrough, according to Sky Sports. The move, which has been in the works since last week, is expected to be officially announced soon with a transfer fee of £4.5 million.
The 22-year-old forward, who was part of the Scotland squad for the Euros, was excluded from Bristol City’s first-team squad after returning from international duty due to his failure to sign a new contract. Bojan Miovksi is set to leave Aberdeen for La Liga side Girona in a deal worth £6.5 million, with the official announcement expected soon. The 25-year-old North Macedonian striker has drawn significant interest over the summer.
Former teammate Joe Lewis commented on Miovksi’s potential, noting, “Bojan has a sell-on value. If he performs well and scores goals in La Liga, his next move could be worth £25 or £30 million. He has all the necessary attributes, but he needs to stay sharp and injury-free.”
