Hull City manager Tim Walter has expressed his desire to keep Ryan Longman, who has drawn interest from Birmingham City and Derby County this summer. After spending last season on loan at Millwall, the winger has returned to the MKM Stadium and played a significant role in Hull City’s pre-season matches.

Longman, 23, has been linked with a potential move during this transfer window, with reports from *The Mirror* indicating that League One sides Birmingham City and Wrexham are keen on him. *HullLive* has also reported interest from Derby County and Millwall.

Despite a recent shoulder injury sustained against Reading, Walter is determined to retain Longman. In an interview with *BBC Humberside Sport*, Walter stated, “He did a good job in pre-season, so I definitely wanted to keep him. He developed well last year at Millwall and during pre-season here in Hull, especially in Istanbul, so I will keep him.”

As Longman focuses on his recovery, his future at Hull City remains uncertain. His contract, set to expire in June 2025, means the Tigers could risk losing him for free next year if he doesn’t sign an extension or is not sold in this or the January transfer window.

Longman began his career at Brighton and Hove Albion, where he progressed through the youth ranks and made one first-team appearance before being loaned to AFC Wimbledon. He joined Hull City in 2021, scoring seven goals in 73 appearances, but fell out of favor under former manager Liam Rosenior, leading to his loan move to Millwall.

With Walter now at the helm, Longman appears to have a fresh start and will likely be part of the German manager’s plans for the upcoming season. As a result, clubs like Birmingham City, Derby County, Wrexham, and Millwall may need to explore other options before the transfer deadline.

Hull City will begin their season with a home game against Bristol City, followed by a Carabao Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday next Wednesday.
