Don Goodman has criticized Adam Idah’s reaction to Norwich City’s decision to keep him despite growing interest from Celtic.

According to the Irish Examiner, Norwich has turned down a £4 million offer from the Glasgow club for Idah. The forward spent the latter half of last season at Celtic, where he quickly became a fan favorite, contributing goals that helped secure a domestic league and cup double.

However, the situation with Idah’s future became complicated earlier this month when he arrived late for a pre-season flight to Austria, leading to disciplinary action by Norwich. Celtic is expected to make a new bid for Idah before the August 30 deadline, as reported by Football Insider, but it’s uncertain whether a deal will be reached with Norwich.

Don Goodman gave his take on the transfer situation, stating that Idah has poorly handled Celtic’s interest. He suggests that the best way for Idah to secure the move he desires is by performing well on the pitch, rather than acting out off it. Goodman speculates that Idah’s agent may have advised him to skip the tour or pre-season games, which he considers bad advice.

Goodman recalls his own experience at West Bromwich Albion, where he was relegated to League One but used his performances to secure a move back up. He advises Idah to focus on his football, noting that while Idah has potential, his inconsistency is a major issue. Goodman emphasizes that success comes from focusing on football and delivering results on the field.

Idah has been with Norwich since 2017, joining as an academy player before breaking into the first team in 2019. Although he has been a regular squad member in both the Premier League and the Championship, he has struggled to get consistent game time. Last season, he made 28 league appearances for Norwich before his January loan to Celtic.

Given Idah’s strong performance at Celtic, where he scored eight goals in 15 league appearances, it makes sense for the Scottish club to pursue a permanent transfer. However, they will need to agree on a fee with Norwich, as Idah is under contract until the summer of 2028.
