Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was taken into custody in Los Angeles last month on suspicion of DUI, and legal proceedings are underway against him.

On July 31, Addison was formally charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding California’s legal limit, both of which are misdemeanors. According to Ben Goessling from the Star Tribune, Addison could face up to six months in jail, $2,000 in fines, and a driver’s license suspension of up to six months.

Additionally, Addison may be subject to an NFL suspension. The league’s policy on substance abuse stipulates a three-game suspension for a first alcohol-related offense.

Addison’s arrest occurred on July 12 when he was allegedly found blocking traffic in a white Rolls Royce on I-105 in West Los Angeles. Authorities reported that Addison was found asleep at the wheel when they arrived at the scene. More details can be found here.

At the beginning of training camp last month, Addison stated he was prepared to “own up to whatever disciplinary actions come my way” as a result of the arrest.

This incident isn’t Addison’s first encounter with law enforcement regarding driving. He received a citation for reckless driving last year, which he attributed to a medical emergency involving his dog.

As a first-round draft pick out of USC last year, Addison had a notable rookie season with the Vikings, recording 70 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns.
