Young Sheffield Wednesday forward Bailey Cadamarteri is likely to leave Hillsborough temporarily to join another club on loan, with Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town among the potential options.
The Star reported that the likelihood of Cadamarteri, 19, being loaned out is growing, with several League One teams showing interest in him.
According to The Sheffield Star, Huddersfield, Blackpool, Stockport County, and Wrexham are believed to be considering signing the forward for the season. Scottish clubs such as Motherwell and Dundee United have also been mentioned as potential suitors.
However, Darren Witcoop has indicated that Wrexham is currently the frontrunner, despite already having a number of strikers on their roster.
Wrexham AFC are currently at the forefront of the pursuit to sign Bailey Cadamarteri from Sheffield Wednesday on loan. The Owls reportedly prefer a loan arrangement over a permanent transfer for the promising 18-year-old, who netted four goals in 23 Championship appearances last season.
Despite interest from several top-flight clubs, Wednesday’s decision might hinge on their own transfer activity, as they may need to secure additional forwards before allowing Cadamarteri to depart.
Huddersfield Town: Bailey Cadamarteri Transfer Makes Sense—But Only If One Condition Is Met
Football League World’s Terriers fan pundit, Graeme Rayner, has shared his views on the potential signing of 19-year-old Bailey Cadamarteri from Sheffield Wednesday. Rayner believes that while Cadamarteri’s move to Huddersfield Town could be beneficial, it should be accompanied by another experienced striker to ensure a well-rounded attack.
“Cadamarteri is a new name in our links, though his family has strong ties to Huddersfield, which could aid his transition,” Rayner told FLW. “However, relying solely on him might not be enough. It’s crucial that we bring in a more experienced forward alongside him.”
Rayner emphasizes the need for two strikers, noting that while securing a loan from a higher division club like Cadamarteri is acceptable, adding a more established option would be ideal. “Having two strikers is essential. Cadamarteri could be a great addition, but we need someone with a proven track record as well to ensure we’re not putting all our attacking hopes on a single young talent.”
Cadamarteri could assist Huddersfield in resolving one of their primary concerns.
Adding goals to the team has been a priority for new manager Michael Duff since joining Huddersfield. The club previously attempted to sign Alfie May, but Birmingham City intervened, leading them to explore other targets.
After Neil Warnock’s departure, things began to deteriorate rapidly for Huddersfield, with their fortunes declining significantly before the end of the season.

Huddersfield struggled notably with scoring goals last season, ranking among the lowest in the Championship. Their top scorers were Michal Helik, a defender, and Delano Burgzorg, a loanee now with Middlesbrough.
To improve their chances of promotion, addressing their scoring issues is crucial. Bailey Cadamarteri could be a key asset in this regard. While his performance last season wasn’t exceptional, it’s important to note he averaged just 49 minutes per game and was only 18. More playing time and being part of a stronger squad could help Cadamarteri, the son of former Premier League striker Danny, reach his potential and make a significant impact.
