Wrexham continue their quest for new signings, with Phil Parkinson possibly eyeing another target after securing defender Dan Scarr.
With the League One season fast approaching, Wrexham can be pleased with their summer business.
Five players—Arthur Okonkwo, Callum Burton, Lewis Brunt, Sebastian Revan, and George Dobson—had already joined the team. On Friday, Wrexham added a sixth signing by bringing in free agent Dan Scarr, a 29-year-old defender with experience from Walsall and Plymouth Argyle.
While Scarr strengthens Parkinson’s defensive options, it appears that finding a new striker may be the next priority for the club.
Wrexham Set Sights on Kieran Bowie
Wrexham do have some striking options with Jack Marriott and Sam Dalby leading the line in Saturday’s friendly win over Fleetwood Town. Ollie Palmer was on the bench, but fellow substitute Jake Bickerstaff is unlikely to be a major factor in League One. Steven Fletcher may be given a reduced role this season, and Paul Mullin underwent surgery earlier this summer.
Phil Parkinson is expecting to see Mullin back in training soon, but another striker may just ease the pressure on the returning hitman.
The Mirror reports that Wrexham are in the race to sign Fulham striker Kieron Bowie. It’s claimed that League One clubs Barnsley, Peterborough United, and Wigan Athletic are also in the mix for Bowie. Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers fancy Bowie too, while Hibernian are interested in taking him to Scotland. The 21-year-old could leave on loan or permanently this summer as Fulham weigh up a number of options.
Bowie hails from Scotland and broke through with Raith Rovers before signing for Fulham as a teenager. He has yet to play a single first-team game for Fulham but scored 14 times in 85 games during a two-year loan spell at Northampton Town. Wrexham looked at Marc Leonard – a Scottish talent who spent two years on loan with Northampton – as well, but he has joined Birmingham City.
Wrexham may hope for better luck with Bowie, who has been hailed as a ‘high-quality player’ by Cobblers boss Jon Brady while speaking to the Northampton Chronicle.
Emerging Young Forwards Targeted by Wrexham
Kieron Bowie, standing at 6ft 3in, is a commanding presence on the pitch but has demonstrated versatility by operating out wide, showing he’s more than just a target man.
The Scotland youth international is a promising talent and is among the latest young strikers linked with a move to the STōK Cae Ras. Wrexham are also eyeing Bailey Cadamarteri and are believed to be leading the race for the Sheffield Wednesday striker. Additionally, they have shown interest in Will Lankshear but face competition from Hull City and Sunderland for the Tottenham Hotspur talent.
Bowie’s addition would fit well with Phil Parkinson’s strategy, providing a young forward to complement his seasoned squad.
