We review the upcoming events in August for Derby County’s Men’s first team, the Under-21s, Under-18s at the Academy level, the Women’s first team, as well as club events, community campaigns, and birthdays.
With all fixtures now announced, the season kicks off in August for the first team, women’s team, U21s, and U18s. The 2024/25 campaign begins with 14 matches scheduled.
Friday 2nd August – Wilson’s birthday!
Derby Women’s midfield maestro Emelia Wilson, who is entering her fourth season under Sam Griffiths, will be celebrating her 21st birthday.
Saturday 3rd August – Men’s first team vs Real Valladolid (H) 3pm
Paul Warne’s team will face La Liga side Real Valladolid at Pride Park Stadium in their final pre-season fixture before the Sky Bet Championship begins.
Sunday 4th August – Joycey’s birthday!
The Ewes’ midfield stalwart and 2023/24 Player of The Season, Emily Joyce, who rose through the club’s youth ranks, will celebrate her 25th birthday.
Monday, 5th August – Summer signing Osborn’s birthday!
Ben Osborn will celebrate his 30th birthday. The versatile player, born in Derby, became the Rams’ first signing of the summer two months ago.
Friday, 9th August – Men’s first team vs Blackburn Rovers (A) 8pm
Paul Warne’s side kicks off the Sky Bet Championship season with an away trip to Ewood Park.
Tuesday, 13th August – Men’s first team vs Chesterfield (H) 7:45pm
The first round of the Carabao Cup will see Chesterfield take a short trip to Pride Park Stadium.
Friday 16th August – Under-21s vs Aston Villa (A) 7pm
Jake Buxton’s U21s will start their 2024/25 Premier League 2 campaign with an away match at Bodymoor Heath Training Ground against Aston Villa.
Saturday 17th August – Under-18s vs Liverpool (H) 12pm
Derby County Under-18s will kick off their Premier League – North season with a match against Liverpool at Moor Farm Training Ground.
Saturday, 17th August – Men’s first team vs Middlesbrough (H) 12:30pm
The Rams will host Middlesbrough in their first home game at Pride Park Stadium of the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship campaign.
Sunday, 18th August – Women’s first team vs Sporting Khalsa (H) 2pm
Sam Griffiths’ Ewes will start their FA Women’s National League Premier Division North campaign against newly promoted Sporting Khalsa at the Don Amott Arena.
Monday, 22nd August – Ward and Rooney’s birthday!
It will be a joint celebration as Rams defenders Joe Ward and Jake Rooney mark their birthdays, turning 29 and 21, respectively.
Friday, 23rd August – Under-21s vs Manchester City (H) 7pm
The U21s will play their first home match of the 2024/25 Premier League 2 season against Manchester City.
Saturday, 24th August – Under-18s vs Newcastle United (A) 1pm
The U18s will make the journey to the north-east to take on Newcastle United.
Saturday, 24th August – Men’s first team vs Watford (A) 3pm
Paul Warne’s squad will travel to Vicarage Road for their second away fixture of the Sky Bet Championship season.
Sunday, 25th August – Women’s first team vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (H) 2pm
Derby County Women will host Wolverhampton Wanderers for their first home game of the 2024/25 season at the Don Amott Arena in Mickleover.
Sunday, 25th August – Fornah’s anniversary!
Tyrese Fornah will mark one year with Derby County, having joined Paul Warne’s Rams on this day in 2023.
Tuesday, 27th August – Under-18s PL Cup first-round tie
The U18s will begin their campaign in the first round of the PL Cup, with details of the opponent yet to be announced.
Friday, 30th August – Under-21s vs Newcastle United (H) 7pm
Jake Buxton’s team will face Newcastle United at Moor Farm Training Ground.
Saturday, 31st August – Under-18s vs Stoke City (H) 11am
Derby’s young Rams will take on Stoke City’s Under-18s at Moor Farm Training Ground.
Saturday, 31st August – Men’s first team vs Bristol City (H) 3pm
Derby will wrap up the month with a home match against Bristol City at Pride Park Stadium.
