Paul Warne remained tight-lipped about Derby County’s interest in Jacob Widell Zetterstrom following reports that the goalkeeper traveled to England this week for a medical.
The Rams are optimistic about finalizing a transfer for the Djurgarden player in a deal reportedly worth around £1.4 million.
Reports suggested that Zetterstrom was scheduled to fly to the UK on Monday to complete the transfer, which would mark the end of Derby’s extended search for a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer. However, Zetterstrom is expected to play in Djurgarden’s Europa Conference League match against Progres tonight and is also anticipated to feature in their game against Goteborg on Sunday.
When asked for an update on the transfer and the validity of the Swedish media reports regarding Zetterstrom’s trip to England, Warne responded: “Unfortunately, we are no closer, and it’s a position we need to strengthen, among a few others.
“I don’t have any exciting news to share. If he has been to England and I wasn’t aware of it, that’s disappointing! Hopefully, if he has visited, he had a nice holiday and enjoyed the weather.”
