The New York Giants are bolstering their cornerback depth by claiming Mario Goodrich off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Goodrich, who was released by the Eagles on Tuesday following the signing of former Giants and Washington Commanders offensive lineman Nick Gates, has now found a new home with the Giants in New Jersey.

In 2023, Goodrich played in four games for the Eagles, starting once and recording five tackles over 110 total snaps (70 defensive and 40 special teams). He was targeted 10 times in coverage, conceding 10 receptions for 118 yards and one touchdown.

Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 186 pounds, Goodrich played college football at Clemson. After going undrafted in 2022, he has been a frequent member of the Eagles’ practice squad.

The Giants, seeking to strengthen their cornerback position, are adding Goodrich as a developmental prospect. At just 24 years old, he offers potential as either a depth player or special teams contributor.
